You’ve probably heard the expression “Too many cooks in the kitchen” or “The right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing. ” These phrases describe a large group of people working in the same company and on the same project, but not working together as a team.
They don’t know what the other team members are doing, and they are not following the same protocol. They are simply working on their part and moving it ahead as best they can, without regard to the greater good of the company.

As EOS® Implementers, we share this concept with each EOS® client, sometimes repeatedly. It is not uncommon to see a company using multiple operating systems. This may occur under the guise of allowing departmental directors the latitude to manage their departments as they choose. It sounds nice in theory, but it creates differing sets of expectations, operational procedures, and even cultures throughout the organization.
The potential result? Leadership is not united in their vision and their plan to achieve the company vision. Departments don’t play well together because they are functioning under different rules. Employees are not a working as a team, and begin doing things their own way.
Running a company on more than one operating system creates complexity, which is guaranteed to disrupt your company.
Every system yields the results it is designed to get. If you are not satisfied with the results, change your system.
EOS® is a journey for the long haul. It takes time, discipline, commitment and training to maintain it. But when all your employees are working together on one system, your company becomes cohesive and healthy. Your company will have synergy, and produce a result that is greater than the sum of its individual efforts.
