My initial contact with a future client is generally a phone conversation with a CEO. They have a lot of questions about what I do as a Leadership Team guide and coach. I frequently get asked why a CEO or a Leadership Team needs a coach.
The answer is simple: everyone needs a coach. Just like a sports team or athlete, a CEO or an organization cannot see themselves playing the game. As a business coach, I help CEOs and organizations play the game better and get more out of themselves than they thought possible.
I periodically meet a CEO who believes my role as a Leadership Team guide and coach is to examine their company and present them with plans to solve their problems and get the company on a vibrant growth trajectory. I routinely explain to Leadership Teams that I will never tell them how to run their business. They have all the answers. My role is to help them uncover the answers.
I help Leadership Teams develop a business operating system for their company – an operating system that meets the team where they are and meets their needs. There is no one-size-fits-all. Together we will build the right team, align to the right vision, create the right plan to get there and execute that plan with consistency.
I always tell future clients during our initial conversation that creating their business operating system is hard work. It is hard work because I’m helping them look at their company in a different way. I’m asking them to change their organizational behavior, to think about their organization in new ways, and to learn new skills.
I join Leadership Teams in the journey, providing the structure that focuses on every component of their business, so they grow and thrive. That is the role of a business coach, and it’s such an honor!
